Healing doesn't always happen at one level. Sometimes the most important work is internal — helping a person understand their own patterns, parts, and responses from the inside out. Sometimes it's relational — looking at how a family system moves together, where it gets stuck, and what it needs to shift. Often, it's both.
I work at both levels: the individual's internal world and the family system around them. Therapy with me can hold both the person and their context, and that's usually where the deepest change happens.
AMY RAE TURNER
I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and my background goes beyond the clinical. Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as a mental health coach for young people, and I've been both a high school teacher and a homeschooling mother.
My work with kids, teens, and families focuses on restoring emotional regulation and interpersonal harmony by helping everyone engage their strengths and build the skills they need to thrive as an individual and as a system.
We learn by doing.
As a conductor of growth, I meet your child and family where they are and guide them toward where they want to be. Sessions may include biofeedback training, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training, Person-Centered emotional processing, and Experiential modalities for deeper exploration and expression based on the needs and preferences of each client.
Value that transforms experience.
A space built for kids: Sessions take place in a home office designed to feel safe, familiar, and fun — with dedicated space for art, play, and movement-based work. Not a waiting room. Not a clinic.
Therapy with a clear direction: Goals are set collaboratively at intake so everyone — child, teen, and family — knows what we're working toward. Every quarter, we meet to review progress and adjust the plan.
Parents stay in the loop: After each session, parents receive a brief skill summary — practical tools and takeaways to reinforce the work at home. Written progress updates are provided on an ongoing basis.
HeartMath biofeedback: This evidence-based program teaches kids and teens to regulate their nervous system in real time — giving them a tool they can actually use when things feel overwhelming.
A curated coping kit: Each client receives items selected to support their individual coping style — something tangible to reach for between sessions.
Expressive arts supplies: Art materials are always available. For kids and teens, sometimes the hands need to work before the words come.
A snack and drink: Every session includes a snack and something to drink. Small detail, real difference — especially for kids coming straight from school.
Support beyond the session: Referrals, school coordination, and medical or legal documentation are part of the care — not an extra ask.
Less guesswork with insurance: A superbill is provided so families can pursue out-of-network reimbursement with confidence.
